The U.S. said today that the Trade and Development Agency gave a grant to The Lily Hospitals Limited of Nigeria for a feasibility study to help improve and run 10 healthcare facilities in Nigeria. These institutions, located in cities all over the country, will care for up to 25,000 people each year. Lily chose Anadach Consulting Group, LLC, based in Maryland, to conduct the research.
Enoh T. Ebong, who is in charge of USTDA, said that the organization’s main goal in Nigeria is to improve access to high-quality health care. “Our collaboration with Lily will give the business the analysis it needs to make defensible choices in support of its healthcare delivery aims. Likewise, USTDA’s involvement will also open up opportunities for American businesses to provide the technologies and services that these healthcare institutions need.”
The USTDA research will look at and recommend the best medical facilities for Lily to fix up and add to its existing network. Compared to getting new healthcare facilities up and running and building new ones, this initiative will improve access to high-quality healthcare systems that are already in place at a lower cost and in less time.
This USTDA award comes at a perfect moment. It facilitates the reactivation of underperforming healthcare facilities as part of our expansion strategy. Dr. Austin Okogun, the CEO of Lily, says that this will bring life back to areas, create jobs, encourage investment, and help the economy grow. “This project gives medical and related clinical expertise the chance to work together and franchise. It also gives more healthcare professionals the chance to give back to their communities. It will also give American businesses the chance to supply these institutions with the high-quality technologies they need. Above all, we are committed to giving Nigerians better access to high-quality, affordable healthcare.”
In the U.S. The USTDA announced grant funds for Lily’s feasibility study. The Agency started three new grant programs in the U.S. to make it easier for people in Nigeria and the rest of Africa to get health care.
Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, said, “[USTDA’s grantees] will be given more tools to improve their programs, whether it’s elite cancer treatment facilities or other relevant services that address pressing healthcare needs in our country. Establishing stronger ties with USTDA will also allow recipient organizations to benefit from highly regarded American healthcare expertise and create long-lasting alliances that advance global and national health.”
Investments in patient-centered health care, one of the main pillars of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment, are advanced through USTDA’s aid to Lily. The project also has the US government’s Prosper Africa program, which aims to increase trade and investment between the US and Africa by a lot.
