Woman arrested after ‘fleeing’ from serious crash in stolen car

The two cars collided at the intersection of Main South Rd and Randell Rd about 9.45pm Wednesday. The alleged driver of one of the red Volkswagen involved in the crash left the scene and was picked up by a stolen Kia before police arrived. The driver of the blue Honda hatchback also involved, a woman, 51, remained trapped in her vehicle. She was eventually freed but had to be rushed to the Flinders Medical Centre with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Her passenger, a man, 28, was also injured and taken to hospital. Witnesses of the crash assisted police in describing the fleeing Kia, and patrols found the car in the carpark of a winery at Reynella. The alleged driver of the Volkswagen, a Port Noarlunga South woman, 25, was arrested and charged with aggravated due care, driving disqualified, failing to stop and render assistance and failing to truthfully answer. She was refused bail to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Thursday. The stolen Kia was seized for forensic examination. It follows a fatal crash at Virginia on Wednesday which cost the life of Valentino Paradiso, 18. The teen died when his motorcycle crashed in to a Holden Ute on Old Port Wakefield Rd in the late afternoon on May 10. Friends paid tribute to the young man, saying he loved cars and motorbikes.
