The Greens advocating to abolish the Australian Border Force is just “absolutely mad,” says former defence minister Christopher Pyne.
The Australian Greens announced the major departure from status quo policy as it released its national security platform on Thursday.
The party proposed a new border security plan to scrap offshore detention, the border force and boat turn backs.
“I think the Greens are feeling really overconfident – they obviously believe in the polls which is showing that their support levels a re rising,” Mr Pyne said.
“But the idea of abolishing the Australian Border Force is completely mad.”
