Adam Whetstone, 32, was on his first night out for some time at the Bridgeway Hotel, Pooraka, on April 29 and was in the bathroom when the incident unfolded. He told 9 News the bathroom door hit someone else as he entered the room, and Mr Whetstone laughed. “He (the suspect) said, ‘Do you think this is funny?’, and I said something like, ‘You don’t need to arc up’ and then he’s just turned around and king-hit me,” Mr Whetstone said. As he lay on the ground unconscious, an onlooker filmed him, with voices mocking him in the background. “Wanna get slapped down on the floor? Way to talk sh*t cuz, get laid out,” they said after the attack. He was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries. Police had to attend to help disperse the large crowd as a melee broke out while people left the venue on Royal Ave at Pooraka. A Lewiston man, 23, was arrested for disorderly behaviour but police only issued him a formal warning. Mr Whetstone has no memory of the incident, and is calling on witnesses to report anything they know to police in a bid to track down the suspect. Police are also encouraging anyone who witnessed the incident in the bathroom to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
