Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says he found there was more of a “pro-Scott Morrison” sentiment in Queensland than in other states where he has previously doorknocked with candidates.
“There’s a reason why Liberal campaign HQ is in this state, there’s a reason why it’s speculated that the Liberals might launch their campaign in this state,” he told Sky News Australia.
Mr Clennell said even in the marginal Labor seat of Blair, the reception for Scott Morrison was “very different” to what he found in New South Wales and Western Australia while speaking to residents.
